Ardbeg's single-cask expression from August 2011 was aged six years in first-fill bourbon, yielding 256 cask-strength bottles in July 2018. Young Islay peat combines with vanilla and light char from active bourbon wood, creating an energetic, smoke-forward dram with restrained oak influence. This is a peated whisky for those who prefer vigorous peat character over long maturation and subtle complexity.
