Maker's Mark's inaugural Star Hill Farm release marks a fundamental shift from the brand's corn-forward tradition, replacing it entirely with wheat as the foundation grain. Master distiller Blake Layfield has crafted a marriage of two mash bills: one combining 70% soft red winter wheat with 30% malted barley, the other a pure 100% malted soft red winter wheat expression. The result elevates wheat to the lead role, with the expected softness and subtle sweetness characteristic of the grain, supported by Maker's Mark's meticulous wood selection.
