This Caol Ila was distilled in 2014 and matured in a quarter cask previously used for Catoctin Creek rye, creating an unusual marriage of Islay smoke with American whiskey wood influence. The rye cask adds spice and dryness to the distillery's signature maritime character, creating a leaner, more mineral peat profile than standard releases.
