Matured for 25 years in first-filled oloroso sherry and bourbon casks before being bottled at cask strength in 2013, this Laphroaig demonstrates the restraint that extended maturation brings to the distillery's volatile peat. The nose carries ripe orchard fruit and dark chocolate alongside controlled peat smoke; the palate unfolds with layers of dried apricot, tobacco leaf, and liquorice before the peat emerges on the finish. At 45.1% ABV, it maintains viscosity and complexity without the burn of higher-strength releases. A sophisticated expression suited to patient sipping and contemplation.
