Lagavulin 25 Year Old (Special Release 2002)

Lagavulin's 2002 Special Release at 25 years old represents Diageo's recognition of the Islay distillery's heavily peated style at full maturity, with 9,000 bottles released at cask strength. A quarter-century of aging would have mellowed the initial smoke and brine while deepening the maritime, medicinal character.
