Caol Ila's 2013 distillation, bottled at nine years old and 57.3% ABV for The Whisky Show 2022, delivers concentrated Islay maritime character from a single hogshead. Aromas of sea spray, coal smoke and candied lemon give way to wood smoke, dried berries, tobacco, menthol and bitter herbs on the palate. The finish smoulders with coals and lingering smoke. Best suited to Islay devotees seeking high-proof, single-cask intensity without dilution.
