Distilled in 2002 and bottled in 2018, this Lagavulin spent at least three months finishing in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks, mellowing the distillery's coastal peat with rich, dried-fruit sweetness. The nose reveals dates, cherries, and raisins alongside underlying smoke and salt spray, while the palate balances briney peat with notes of salted caramel and dark stone fruit. The texture is full and warming, with a long, satisfying finish that echoes both smoke and spice. A refined expression suited to evening contemplation or pairing with dark chocolate and cured meats.
