Caol Ila 1980 is a 40-year-old single malt matured in a refill hogshead and bottled by Douglas Laing at 54.6% ABV in June 2021. Four decades of maturation have concentrated the distillery's maritime character into layers of sea salt, acrid smoke, leather, and malted barley. Honey-glazed meat, black pepper, dried orange peel, and smouldering bonfire embers develop across the palate, supported by viscous texture and a long, evolving finish.
