- Description
- This 1972 Ardbeg from a bourbon hogshead was bottled in 2004 from cask #3038, capturing the distillery's character before the 1980s closure. Bourbon cask maturation preserves the raw peat and iodine intensity Ardbeg is known for, while decades in oak have softened the spirit's sharper edges with vanilla and wood spice. A piece of distillery history for those interested in how different cask types shaped Ardbeg's evolution.
